Repair Damaged Skirting Boards Yourself Instead of Replacing Them

No matter how careful you are, skirting boards are bound to be chipped and damaged by furniture legs or erroneous legs. Instead of finding and installing a replacement board, you can repair them yourself much easier.

Painting a cracked skirting board can be a poor man’s way of hiding damage, but replacing a piece of skirting board can be difficult, especially if you can’t find a matching frame.

So, for best results, use a multi-purpose joint compound (dirt that is used to hang drywall) to fill in any chipped skirting board. Then take a drywall scotch knife and run it over the breakaway part to reshape it to fit the rest of the baseboard. Let it dry and repeat this three times.
