Best Cheap (or Free) Museums in All 50 States
Sitting in a museum is a great way to spend the day. It can also be an economical way to spend the day, as entrance tickets to many museums are cheap, or better yet, free. Cheapism offers a list of cheap or free museums in every state in the US.
It’s worth noting that many museums are technically free, but they strongly “recommend” donations. In most cases, they do not advertise the offered price and leave the buyers to guess what they should pay. In recent years, there has been controversy over this. But the Cheapism list includes those museums that advertise either free admission or an incredibly low admission price.
In California, for example, you have the Getty Museum in Los Angeles, which is known as a free beautiful place to visit in the city (only caveat – parking costs $ 15, but you can also take the bus). Here are some more lists of the cheapness of the states:
- VIRGINIA: MUSEUM OF FINE ARTS IN VIRGINIA: The Museum of Fine Arts of Virginia has a diverse collection of works from the ancient to the present, including sculpture, photography, and Native American art. Two elegant restaurants beckon visitors after exploring the museum. (Is free)
- TEXAS: ALAMO: While everyone wants to see the Temple of the Alamo, where a group of fighters made their last fight against Mexican forces, there is much more to be seen in the 4.2 acre area. - OREGON: MUSEUM OF NATURAL AND CULTURAL HISTORY. The Museum of Natural and Cultural History brings together a remarkable 300 million years of history, geology and archeology under one roof. Be sure to check out the Geophotography Exhibit to get an idea of Oregon from scratch. As part of the University of Oregon’s Structural Geology course, students study geological processes through photography. Admission is free on the first Friday of every month; otherwise, the cost is $ 5.
