Simplify Unloading With the “Take a Five” Method
The clutter at home can be overwhelming, but the longer you put it off, the worse it gets. Do it a little at a time using the Take 5 method.
By gradually cleaning up a few items in your home , you can eliminate seemingly impossible clutter. Organizing Junkie writer Lori Wittmann slowly but surely shares her technique:
On reflection, I came up with a way to organize Take 5 on a daily basis. I go into a certain room, look around and choose five things that I need to take and put away right away. If I take these things and put them away, then I can have some fun. Then I’ll come back a little later and repeat the process.
I have found that looking at a large organizational project as a whole makes it unmanageable. Sometimes I feel like a failure even before I even start. But if I take a little of it, it doesn’t make me nearly as stressed.
You can tweak the amount based on your own clutter and combine it with a server technique whereby you always leave the room with your hands busy. It’s an easy way to make organizing a part of your daily routine so that you can control clutter. For more information, check out the publication at the link below.
