Every Phone Is Updated to Android Marshmallow

Android Marshmallow is out today. Of course, for some phones, it can take months or years to get the update. We have collected all possible information about which devices will receive updates and when.

Below you will find an incomplete list of all phones and tablets that can be updated for Android Marshmallow. Please be aware that we do not have any special inside information. We only know what the companies that produce these devices are announcing. We will do our best to update this list and check for updates. However, some manufacturers may change their plans or may simply not recognize some phones entirely.

Many phones also come with options that can delay updates. We will flag carrier or regional variations where applicable, but unless otherwise noted, we assume that any reference to a device refers to a generic non-carrier version. If you bought your phone from a carrier (specifically a CDMA carrier such as Verizon or Sprint), your phone may have a different update schedule.

If you see a phone that isn’t on this list and that the manufacturer or carrier has confirmed an upgrade to Android Marshmallow, please let us know. We can’t keep up with every phone that isn’t mentioned, but we can always add new information that manufacturers or carriers provide us with.

On October 5, Android Marshmallow began rolling out to the following Nexus devices:

  • Nexus 5
  • Nexus 6
  • Nexus 7 (2013)

Android One

Google unveiled Android One last year to use standard Android to develop cheap, affordable smartphones for developing countries. Google handles updates, so Android One devices should update almost as quickly as Nexus devices.

There are already a huge number of Android One devices out there, but phones in India and the Philippines have already started receiving updates , including the following confirmed devices:

  • Micromax Canvas A1
  • Spice Dream UNO
  • Carbon Sparkle V

There are many, many Android One devices that cover many countries and languages that we cannot fully cover, but if your device is Android One branded, you can probably expect an update in the coming weeks.

Devices We Think Will Get Android Marshmallow

Not every manufacturer publicly announces their upgrade plans. However, there are several options to look forward to. The most likely candidates are most of the major flagships released in the last six months to a year. The following set of phones have absolutely no guarantees of getting the update, but they have a better chance than most:

  • Samsung Galaxy S6
  • Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge
  • Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge +
  • Samsung Galaxy Note 5
  • Lg g4
  • Lg g3

We will update this list as we learn more.

Devices That Will Not Get Android Marshmallow

Not all companies will confirm that the older device will not receive the update. However, when we get explicit confirmation, we’ll add them to the list here. These are the devices that we know for sure won’t receive the Android Marshmallow update.

If your device doesn’t officially receive Marshmallow, you can also try rooting your phone and installing a custom ROM . Sometimes the community will fix the flop and update an old phone that might not work otherwise.

We will update this list regularly as new information becomes available. If you see a confirmed or promised update that isn’t on this list, please email us .
