Fix Blurry Fonts in Windows 10 With This Utility
If you have a high-resolution display , you’ve probably noticed that some apps have blurry fonts when you zoom in. Even stranger, some apps that used to scale well look blurry on Windows 10. Here’s a fix.
Windows 10 uses a different scaling method than Windows 8 for unknown reasons, but it seems to scale poorly in some built-in apps like Device Manager, Computer Management, or dialog boxes. An app called “XPExplorer – Windows 10 DPI Fix” solves this problem by restoring the old method of DPI scaling in Windows 8.
Run the application, select the Use Windows 8.1 DPI scaling check box and select a scaling level. After you click Apply, it will ask you to reboot. When you return, the fonts in these apps will be clean again.
It also offers the option of custom scaling, but when I tested it it didn’t work. I had to use one of the preset DPI scaling levels for it to work.
To revert to the Windows 10 method, simply restart the app, select the Use default DPI scaling in Windows 10 check box, and reboot your computer twice.
