Make Your LinkedIn Headline Stand Out by Keeping It Simple
It can be difficult to summarize all your experience and skills in one simple headline, but this is exactly what you should be doing with your LinkedIn headline: keep it simple.
Cluttering your headline with too many titles, interests, and roles can make it difficult for recruiters to understand who you are and what you want to do. As Entrepreneur author Steve Toback explains, you want to get rid of vague headlines that don’t really mean anything to a potential viewer:
Make your career or business a big favor and leave all the amorphous things like “entrepreneur” and “philanthropist” and a detailed list of things that are in an ideal world without competition, where qualifications do not matter, and you are one of only six people on LinkedIn you would be hired to do this.
And remember the first rule of branding: keep it simple.
Our very own Melanie Pinola (and LinkedIn author in 30 minutes ) pointed out that you have roughly six seconds to grab a recruiter’s attention with your profile. You want your message to be as easy as possible to get across.
Words and phrases such as ” SEO expert” , ” monetization” , ” sole proprietor”, “author” , ” speaker” , ” social media pro” , etc. May cover what you do and by all means add this to the rest of your profile, but that’s too much for anyone. when they just want to know your title.
Toback suggests picking one takeaway that you want recruiters to remember and stick with it. Check out his full article at the link below.
