Use the Rule of Threes to Find Out If You Have Sleep Problems
Many people have trouble sleeping from time to time, but how do you know when your trouble falling asleep or falling asleep is causing concern? The rule of threes can help.
In an article on sleeplessness at night (waking up in the middle of the night and not getting back to sleep), Dr. Shelby Friedman Harris explains when to consult your doctor:
Occasional sleep problems are normal and not necessarily cause for concern. Sleep professionals love to use the Rule of Threes to decide if you should seek help. Check with your doctor if the problem occurs at least three times a week, if you are awake at night for at least 30 minutes, and lasts for at least 30 days.
By then, you may be feeling so hot and exhausted that you should go to the doctor and hopefully you can find the cause of your sleep problems.
