That a Sports Bra Is (Probably) Not Suitable
If you have breasts, you’ve probably figured out that the most important job of a sports bra is to prevent pain that can come from bouncing while jogging or jumping. However, the idea that the right bra can prevent sagging over time falls somewhere between myth and assumption.
Greatist tests reality by asking what sports bras are really for. Comfort, yes. Sagging, not very:
So yes, sports bras make workouts less painful. But in the end? “They don’t do much,” says Natasha Desai , MD, a sports medicine specialist at Columbia Doctors at New York Presbyterian Hospital. Remember the mentioned Cooper’s fibrous ligaments? These ligaments gradually lose their elasticity with age, and gravity spares no one – dressed in Lulemon or not.
It is hypothesized that sports bras reduce stress on Cooper’s ligaments by helping to slow down the sagging process. But it’s also possible that without a bra, your ligaments will get stronger over time .
Unfortunately, there have been no long-term studies to answer this question. Read more at the link below to find out what a sports bra is and is not allowed.
