Curiosity Will Show You Helpful Wikipedia Articles When You Need Them
iOS: If you’ve ever seen an interesting monument or building and wanted to know more about it, Curiosity is perfect for you. The app uses geolocation to post Wikipedia articles based on what’s near you and offers articles related to trending news topics to keep you in the loop, too.
Curiosity’s primary source is Wikipedia, so keep that in mind as you read, but for that, it does a great job of giving you the articles you need when you need them. You can browse the map based on where you are and browse articles related to attractions around you. Tap one to read it, or bookmark it or share it to read it later. This is ideal if you are traveling in a strange city or are just curious about what is interesting in your area. That’s not all of the factual, dry, reference material – the app will show you movies filmed or filmed in your area, historical battles that took place nearby, and much more.
If you are interested in news or see people discussing a topic on social media but don’t know the background, Curiosity can also post articles based on trending topics. If you want to give it a try, it will set you back $ 2 on the iTunes App Store.
