Microsoft Drops OneDrive Downgrade and Gives More Space

Last month, Microsoft drastically downgraded all of its OneDrive accounts, ditching unlimited storage, slashing major payment plans, and reducing storage for the free tiers. Today they are ditching some of them, but you will need to register to receive this.

One thing Microsoft hasn’t backed down from is the unlimited tier. It will not come back under any circumstances. However, some existing OneDrive users can take advantage of some of the older features if they’re willing to do a little bit of work. This comes from the OneDrive support page :

Office 365 Home, Personal, and University subscriptions will continue to include 1 TB of storage. Any subscriber who receives additional storage as part of our unlimited offer will retain it for at least 12 months. For those who are unhappy with the decision not to offer unlimited storage, we will offer a full refund.

For our free service customers who have more than 5GB of content and are directly affected by storage changes, we offer one year of free Office 365 Personal, which includes 1TB of storage. These customers will receive an email with repayment information early next year.

Also, for our biggest fans, who have been die-hard OneDrive supporters, we’re adding a new offering that lets you keep your 15GB of free storage when changes happen next year. If you also have the 15GB Film Bonus, you can keep it as well. From now until the end of January, you can register to save your vault using the link below. http://aka.ms/onedrivestorag…

So, if you want to keep this camera bonus, sign up using the link above. If you’re a free user with more than 5 GB of content, please keep an eye on your email for an offer to get a free year of Office 365 Personal. If you are annoyed at the lack of an unlimited option, please send an email to receive a full refund.
