Stay Hungry for Success Unless You Want to Lose It
Once you’ve reached a certain level of success, it’s easy to get comfortable. However, if you want to stay there, be prepared to act hungry. Even if not.
As the business blog Entrepreneur points out, most successful people tend to keep pushing themselves even after they seemingly “win.” This is the reason why actors keep acting even if they are already millionaires, and this is the reason why your favorite TV show lasted perhaps a few more seasons than it needs to. This is because they know that once you stop doing the same work you did when you were striving for success, you are no longer ready to keep winning:
When you win the Super Bowl, in life or in business, you will never win again unless you return to training immediately – you have to stay hungry, win or lose, succeed or fail. Whether the Panthers or the Broncos win the Super Bowl this year, if they stop training they will never win another Super Bowl. Success requires constant attention, and once you stop hunting for it, it will slip away from you. You have to approach creating success like a commitment, a do-or-die mission, a must-have-it mentality, a hungry dog mentality on the back of a meat truck.
Regardless of whether you have accomplished something that you consider “success” or are stuck in your path, ask yourself what you looked like when you were striving for success. How much effort did you put in in the early days? If you are not willing to put in the same effort now, you are unlikely to get the same results.
