Add Oatmeal to Turn Your Smoothie Into a Hearty Meal

Smoothies can be an easy, quick and healthy meal, especially if you portion the ingredients ahead of time, but they don’t always fill you up. A little oatmeal before turning on the blender will make your smoothies more filling and satisfying.

Whole oatmeal mixes better and you don’t need to cook it before adding it to smoothies. They’re also a great way to add fiber to your smoothie without adding tons of calories. Either toss the oatmeal into the blender along with the rest of the ingredients, or soak them in milk or water for at least an hour beforehand (this will soften them and give your smoothie a smoother texture). Add half a cup (or less) to each mixture. smoothies so that the consistency does not become too thick.
