Loopback for Mac Controls Multiple Microphones and Other Audio Inputs
Mac: If you need to redirect audio from one Mac to another , say from a microphone to Skype and to Audacity, Soundflower has been the most popular tool for a long time. Loopback is a new application that does the same thing, but makes it much easier to manage.
Loopback is marketed as “wireless audio routing,” which is probably the best way to understand what it does. The Loopback acts like a large digital mixing panel. You can combine multiple microphones into one audio source, or even link specific apps together as separate audio sources (such as microphone, Skype, and iTunes). You can then send that audio through other apps or devices, making things like screencast creation, game videos, podcast recording, live streaming, and more, much easier.
Loopback is a pretty niche app, which probably explains the $ 75 price tag, but a free trial gives you 10 minutes of free recording to see if it works for you. It was a hell of a lot easier to set up for me than Soundflower, and I knew pretty well what I was doing from the beginning. If you record a lot on Mac, it’s worth a look.
