Dessert Can Give You the Most Money in a Restaurant
Dessert ordering can sometimes seem like a luxury, but it might actually be the smartest order on the menu – at least in terms of ROI.
The Washington Post notes that desserts are usually not as labeled as other dishes:
“Dessert needs good ingredients to taste good, but you can’t psychologically convince people to pay even $ 20 for a dessert,” said [George Mason University economics professor Tyler] Cowan. “You can’t get away with it cheaply, but you can’t charge extra fees either.”
It is for this reason that Forbes noted in 2011 that dessert is often a good deal – for visitors.
Of course, the best way to save on food is to eat at home, but if you’re out for dinner, perhaps feel free to order a dessert – it’s probably better than this truffle oil-based dish .
