15 Unnecessary Sequels That Are Better Than You Think
Sequels are rarely needed, but that doesn’t mean we won’t watch them, hoping the sequel will improve and expand the story in a way that fulfills the promise of the original rather than letting it down. Any movie buff can list great and successful sequels, but that’s a little different.
This is not Godfather II or The Empire Strikes Back . It’s not that these sequels are necessarily better than their predecessors – and maybe they’re not even that good. But they all have something to say and something to add, sometimes continuing a story that, as we did not know, needs to be continued, but just as often, making a sharp right turn and going into uncharted territory.
Many of them are films that audiences shunned because the originals couldn’t be perfect. But heck, if there is no hint of brilliance in these cinematic orphans – we don’t need these sequels and don’t necessarily ask for. It’s a tribute to some of the less-loved sequels that deserve a second look.
