We have all done what we are not proud of, but that does not mean that you should hide these moments from the world. Recent research shows that being honest about your unpleasant past makes you much more attractive than someone who is hiding information in an attempt to look their best.
Research by Leslie John, Keith Baras, and Michael Norton of Harvard Business School suggests that keeping things behind closed doors to save face actually backfires. In fact, people tend to think of holders as unreliable, and honestly talking about your past can even be considered brave. Whether you’re creating an online dating profile or filling out a survey as a potential job candidate, researchers advise you to talk about the less naughty details of your past ahead of time.
