If your phone’s battery life is short, you can always change the settings to get the most out of it. Ideally, however, you’ll need to pick a phone with a decent battery first. Consumer Reports ranks five smartphones with the longest battery life.
Battery life has improved dramatically over the years, they explain, but after testing over 54 different phones, Consumer Reports picked the best of the best.
The five smartphones below manage to stand out even in an area that has seen significant improvements in recent years, thanks to 3000mAh batteries and processors and wireless connections that intelligently adjust power consumption according to the work being done. Our engineers accurately measure smartphone battery discharge under a variety of conditions, including cellular signal transmission and display and processor activity.
The milliampere clock (mAh) measures how long a battery lasts based on how much power it uses. Generally, the larger the mAh, the longer the battery will last. Talk time can be a more practical measure, however, and Consumer Reports includes both in their rankings. Here are the top three on their list, including talk time and capacity.
- Motorola Droid Turbo (BN) : 24+ hours 3900 mAh
- Samsung Galaxy S6 active : 24+ hours 3400 mAh
