Avoid Unnecessary Distractions in IOS 15 With Notification Summary

Each year, Apple adds new features to its iPhone and iPad operating systems to make notifications more manageable . iOS 15 is no different. This time, Apple has removed the old silent delivery feature and is replacing it with a notification summary that gives you even more control over how and when your phone will disturb you.

Think of it as a notification digest: every morning or evening (or anytime in between), you’ll receive one notification listing all of the daily notifications from apps you’ve added to the Summary feature.

It’s a great way to mute your notifications and see them too, albeit with a delay, with a reflow so they don’t interfere with your really important notifications.

To begin, open the application “Settings” on your iPhone or iPad (you’ll need iOS 15 or iPadOS 15, which currently is in public beta ). Go to Notifications > Schedule Summary and turn on Schedule Summary .

You can stick with the default times for morning and evening, or you can tap the time to change the time the bulletin is delivered. You can also add additional bulletins to be delivered at different times of the day using the Add Bulletin button.

With the Apps in Summary option, you can include the apps you want to send notifications to directly in the Notification Summary.

Once added, these apps will not bother you with a sound or vibration of the notification every time a new notification arrives.

You can also quickly add an app to the notification summary from the notification center itself: swipe left on the notification, click the Options button, and select the Add to summary option.

The next time it’s time to take stock, your iPhone will display a large “Notification Summary” section at the top of the notification list. Tap a field to expand and see all notifications in the summary.

If you later want to remove the app from the summary, swipe left on the notification in the notification summary, click the Options button, and then select Deliver Immediately .
