Placing Literary Maps in Real Places That You’ve Read About in Books
It’s always fun to visit real life places that you read about in books. There is something exciting about exploring the place the author had in mind when he wrote. Literature Placement is a fun tool that displays these locations for you.
You can browse locations by author, book, or city. You will receive a map of the places you can explore to see more information about the place and the history itself. The site partners with libraries and museums to create carefully selected collections from over 3,000 different sites around the world.
Via a press release from the website:
Placing Literature today launched a revamped website that allows readers to browse, find and visit sites with famous (and not so famous) scenes from world literature – from 221B Baker Street to Grand Forks High School . The ability to virtually explore literary places gives readers a better understanding of the books they are reading, while at the same time increasing people’s understanding of the places where they live, work and play – plus, it’s just plain fun!
Of course, you can always find these places yourself using Google Maps, but you need to know exactly what you are looking for. I love that you can browse many different literary places with the site and it gives you some interesting details about each place. You can also search for literary places by city, which is really interesting if you want to tour the places nearby.
Also, if you want to see more, you can always continue your Google search after visiting the site. Check it out at the link below.
