Notarization Allows You to Notarize a Document Directly From Your Phone
iOS: From time to time, you need a notary, be it a will, mortgage, or some other contract. You can probably find a notary near you quite easily, but if you don’t feel like leaving your home, the Notarize app lets you do it from your phone.
The app connects you with a notary public 24/7 and is currently only available in the US. Although the app itself is free, you will need $ 25 to contact a notary to sign your document. Here’s how founder Pat Kinsel described the service on Product Hunt:
Notarization is the first on-demand remote electronic notarization service that allows anyone to notarize a document from their iPhone 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. It operates nationally and connects clients with Virginia licensed electronic notaries via real-time video calling. Just download the app, verify your identity, fill out your document and sign in front of the current agent to instantly notarize it. The whole transaction takes 3-4 minutes.
You will need a driver’s license to verify your identity. They do not store your financial information or share your personal information without your explicit consent. You can read their full privacy policy here.
Considering that it usually only costs a couple of bucks to notarize something, you are definitely paying for the convenience. However, it’s a pretty nifty concept, and if you need one, you can check it out at the link below.
