Microsoft Buys Swiftkey and Integrates Predictive Technology Into Its Keyboards
Microsoft and SwiftKey jointly announced today that the latter will join the former. Microsoft acquired Swiftkey and will be rolling out forecasting technology into its products in the coming months.
Microsoft says it wants to integrate SwiftKey into its Word Flow keyboard , which you can recognize as Swype-like. While this is a feature of most soft keyboards these days, SwiftKey advertises its neural network engine (as shown in the video above) that they hope will predict entire messages based on how it observes your writing style. In the meantime, SwiftKey says its Android and iOS apps will continue to be available in their respective app stores for free.
