We work for a variety of reasons, from looking for a job to a mentor. You may not know how soon after meeting someone it is appropriate to contact them and contact them. Ivan Mizer from Entrepreneur simplifies the process with a 24/7/30 method.

Here’s what Miser suggests for follow-up:

24 hours : “When you meet someone at a networking event, leave a note for them within the first 24 hours. This can be a personal handwritten note or an email. Use whichever approach you use consistently. Let them know that it was a pleasure to meet them, and you hope that your paths will cross again. “

7 days : “Within 7 days, contact them on social networks. Connect via LinkedIn or Facebook. Follow them on Twitter or join them on Google+. Find ways to communicate and interact with them through the social media platforms you use the most. Don’t do this as a way to sell them. Do this to start making meaningful connections with them. ”

30 days : Within 30 days, reach out to them to arrange a face-to-face meeting … In this meeting, learn more about what they do and find ways to help them in one way or another. Don’t make this a sales call; make it a relationship building opportunity.
