Best Times to Buy a Laptop in Two Charts
If you had to guess when is the best laptop deal, you would probably be right.
Stephen Baker, a market analyst who studies laptop prices and sales for the NPD Group, told Laptop Magazine:
Now is the best time to buy notebooks, and just when you think it has arrived, between the last week of July and the first three weeks of August, when the madness of going back to school is in full swing.
This applies to both Mac and Windows PCs.
As you can see from the CamelCamelCamel charts below, there’s another common drop in laptop prices: the shopping season during the winter break.
While the charts only show data for two specific laptops, they represent the industry as a whole. Some pre-school and winter break sales may seem like marketing gimmicks and shouldn’t be expected, but in the laptop category, deals are usually legal.

Of course, the best time to buy a laptop is also when you really need a new one. But if you can wait and time your purchase correctly, you will probably save money.
