Remove Old Devices From Your ICloud Account

If you’ve had a lot of Apple devices over the years, your iCloud account is likely full of iPhones, iPads, or Macs that you no longer own. This can be a little annoying, especially if you are using two-factor authentication . Sweet Setup shows you how to remove them.

You can get rid of old devices in several different places. This is definitely worth doing if you’ve lost or sold your device. Even if you still have that old iPhone that you never use, it’s a good idea to clean it up so you don’t accidentally keep sending two-factor codes to your old device and wonder why it doesn’t work (which happened to me just yesterday. ).

On iOS

  1. Go to Settings> iCloud> Your name> Devices.
  2. Click Remove from Account for any device you no longer have.

On Mac

  1. Go to System Preferences> iCloud> Account Information> Devices.
  2. Click Remove from Account on all devices you no longer have.

From the Internet

  1. Go to iCloud.com
  2. Tap Settings> My Devices and delete anything you no longer have.

That’s all. After removing all those old devices, you will have a nice clean iCloud account and you won’t accidentally send two-factor codes to older devices.
