Avid Careerist’s Donna Swee says recruiters often limit LinkedIn searches to zip codes. This means that you will never be found unless your location matches the one recruiters are looking for.
It’s a risk if your boss notices a change in location on your LinkedIn profile, but a gamble that could pay off if you’re considering moving. It’s a strategy similar to not listing your address on your resume : you don’t want your current location to limit your job opportunities.
