Rest of the Day: Google Maps Adds More Car-Sharing Services
Google wants Maps to be the only app you’ll ever open on the go. They are increasing the popularity of in-app paging services as well as connecting to more car services abroad.
- Google Maps for iOS and Android have been integrated with Uber for several years, but now they are adding a dedicated tab for car call services as well as expanding services outside of Uber . While the additional services are for non – US citizens (like Hailo in the UK), the new tab suggests that Google wants Maps to be the only app you open when you travel. [Google]
- Google Hangouts for iOS can now record and send video messages up to 1 minute in length . Previously, the app was limited to 10-second video clips. [Android Police]
- Airbnb is working on a new tool that will allow neighbors of noisy renters to complain directly to the company . Bad party tenants have been an ongoing problem for the service, but we hope the new feature will overwhelm some of the Air-bunga-bunga parties. [Bloomberg]
