Netflix Is Testing New Traffic-Saving Feature for Its Mobile Apps

Netflix recently announced that it plans to add a new data-saving feature to its mobile apps that will use less data when you’re on a mobile device, and it looks like the feature will be available to some users.

This feature was recently discovered by Android Police , but it looks like people have come across it intermittently in the past couple of months. As the name suggests, the data saver option is designed to reduce data usage by reducing the quality of the video stream, so you don’t have to dig deep into your mobile data plan just to watch a movie.

Since these beta guinea pig tests tend to pass, there is no clear rhyme or reason for who gets this feature and who does not, and how long it will last if you have it. In an interview with TechCrunch, Netflix says there is no release date for an official update. Either way, it looks like a data saver feature is coming soon and you might just see it pop up randomly as an option in your Netflix app.
