NXT Nebula Desktop
A reader ravenclawwit stumbled upon the NXT theme for Rainmeter and found widespread use in this beautiful and functional desktop. Is that circle in the upper left corner? It’s actually a dock full of shortcuts. Here’s how it all works and how to set it up.
Ravenclawwit runs Windows 10 if you can’t tell from the screenshot, so everything works here even on the most recent version of Windows. What’s the best thing about this launcher in the upper left corner? Each shortcut pops up with icons that you can select for quick access to your most frequently used programs. But we’re getting ahead of ourselves – here’s what you’ll need to make this desktop yours:
- Wallpaper by TylerCreatesWorlds on DeviantArt
- Tool setting and monitoring system for Rainmeter for Windows
- The NXT-OS package for Rainmeter , which includes a circular dock in the upper left corner, a time and date display in the upper right corner, a clock and an active audio visualizer in the center, and even a game drawer that can be pulled out from the bottom center. Ravenclawwit notes that there are other features that aren’t immediately visible, such as a customizable lock screen, shortcut-based app launcher, widget screen, and a few others.
- Circle icon pack for customizing launcher icons in the upper left corner and Metro UI icon pack for customizing pop-up icons when clicking the launcher.
- Cascade X Widget for Rainmeter to display weather and current playback and Spotify plugin for Rainmeter to extract songs from Spotify.
- Rainmeter Flat and Blurry Skin for System Monitors and Hard Drive Indicators on the left side of the screen
That’s all there is to know about it. All the details fit together beautifully and I really like the finished product. You can see how this popup launcher looks in action in the screenshot below.
