Schedule a Meeting With Yourself at Noon to Make the Most of the Day
Making time for a weekly review is a great way to make sure you complete all of your projects, but it helps to do the same with a quick mid-day review. This way, you can devote the day to tasks that really require your attention, not just putting out fires.
Set aside 10-15 minutes on your calendar to reflect on what you have done and what remains to be done. Mirjam Stoffels, founder of seven2success , explains how checking in the afternoon keeps you focused on your highest priority tasks:
Reboot at 13:00 every day. Assess what you have accomplished, remind yourself of what is important, and change your plan so you can tackle the most important. If you wait for 17:00 to assess your day, you have no time and you are in crisis mode, extinguishing fires.
This way, you will have all day to take care of everything that requires your immediate attention, and not let it turn into a huge headache afterwards. I’ve been on both sides of this before, and knowing in the early afternoon that I need to get ready to meet at 9 am is much better than knowing when I’m going home.
