Decide Whether to Start Freelancing by Asking These Five Questions
Becoming a freelancer is not an easy decision . There are many factors to consider that can make or break your independent career. Start by reducing them to these five questions.
As the productivity site 99u explains, freelancing is a tricky business when you’re your own boss, agent, and payroll. This is not for everyone. If you’re not sure if you can handle it, start by asking the following questions:
- Why do I want to act on my own?
- What makes you think you can do better than the people already in the company?
- What are you selling and to whom?
- How do you really know if you can cut it?
- How do you get off the ground?
Each of these questions addresses an aspect of working alone. They don’t have easy answers, which is good. As a freelancer, you need to get used to finding creative answers to complex, borderline existential problems. Check out the 99u post for more details on how to decide if you are the right freelancer and how each of these questions has a significant impact on how well you get there.
