Rest of the Day: Apple’s Super-Thin MacBook Gets a Speed Bump
There is no denying the appeal of a pink laptop. Apple’s MacBook is now available in rose gold with a slightly faster processor, and I can’t help but be drawn to the sophisticated pink computer aesthetic. It’s not just me, is it?
- Apple has just updated its thinnest laptop with a new processor . The MacBook now ships with the current generation Skylake Core M processors, supposedly has a longer battery life, and is finally available in pink . (This isn’t a big jump in speed, so don’t worry about upgrading if you’re already the owner.) Still, the most frustrating aspect of using an ultra-thin MacBook that you might find is the single USB-C port. [Wired]
- And the MacBook Air now comes standard with 8GB of RAM . Still a great laptop after all these years, but its years in Apple’s lineup could be numbered. [The Verge]
- Pinterest has a recently redesigned iOS app . The update puts more emphasis on speed than on the look, so those of you who are anxious to get your head off can do it faster. In fact, your home channel should load three times faster. [Pinterest Blog]
- Microsoft has just made its Skype chatbots available on the web and on the Mac . You can use them to retrieve article summaries or Bing searches, among other things. Not entirely fun or useful yet, but bots are the future! According to the people who develop bots. [Skype]
- Netflix will add HDR support to about a dozen shows later this year . You can think of HDR (High Dynamic Range) as a layer of metadata that tells supported TVs how to display colors more accurately. [Engadget]
