When you’re writing a resume, it’s hard to be objective and write about yourself. You can easily forget about the things that you know how, because they have become second nature to you. That’s why Rita Friedman, a career coach based in Philadelphia, invites you to browse through a bunch of job postings and look at the skills required. Friedman recommends that you highlight the parts that make you say, “Oh, I do this all the time!” You’ve probably forgotten at least a few things. And while you are scanning, you can also mark important work skills that you have not yet acquired. This way you know what to work on in the future.
