Buncho Desktop
Our friend and frequent desktop contributor Dobbie03 has switched from Windows back to Linux, and his new Arch Linux desktop looks great with pleasure. It is well adapted to its workflow and we love Java Sparrows (also known as bunchos). Here’s how he set it all up.
As always, our Linux desktops require a few more moving parts and don’t use a centralized package like GeekTool or Rainmeter, but you can still get great results with just a little bit of tinkering. Here’s what you need:
- Wallpaper by Kadir I. at 500px
- Covergloobus (from the AUR archive as it is no longer in the AUR) and this Covergloobus theme by Dobbie03
- Conky , a lightweight system monitor for Linux systems
- Deepin GTK theme (also available in the AUR, according to Dobby03)
- Gnome ciliora-tertium shell
- Noto Sans Regular font
- Vertex icons (again, in the AUR)
- Neofetch for terminal setup
There are a few moving parts, and you’ll have to tweak each one to see if you like it, but that’s the beauty of Linux in general – you can take or leave whatever elements you prefer to see if it works for you, and then work with what you have, what you like. Here’s another screenshot of the Dobbie03 desktop with windows open:
