Download These Compilations to Lull Yourself
Some people fall asleep better when listening to music. If that sounds like you, check out this collection of music tracks that correspond to the five stages of sleep.
This collection is offered by the music community and the record label A Strangely Isolated Place. Here’s what’s behind the choice of music:
During this research, I discovered several themes or styles of music that I like to fall asleep to. So instead of listing individual tracks in random order, I divided the music into five stages of the sleep cycle and gave each of them a corresponding theme / style of music.
Sleep cycles appear to be 90 minutes long, so you will find two mixtures accompanying this function (two cycles, each 90 minutes), each with five stages of sleep. The selection includes some of my favorites, as well as suggestions from several readers via Facebook and Twitter . Thanks to everyone who suggested albums and, on many occasions, made me collect this article on a new journey.
All tracks are ambient and from artists such as Brian Eno and Biosphere. Depending on the stage of sleep, music can include sounds similar to cosmic, pulsating rhythms or soft melodies.
While there is no guarantee that you will fall asleep to this music or even enjoy it, it is an interesting approach that you can copy when making your own sleep playlists. You can listen to or download music for each sleep cycle below.
