Rest of the Day: You Can Now Share Dropbox Files on Facebook Messenger
Emoji look different on every platform and it breaks the relationship! Maybe we should all stick with Facebook, the one platform to run them all. Which is now conveniently integrated with Dropbox.
- No one can agree on what the smiley face should mean . As each platform presents slightly different designs, the “smiling face with smiling eyes” becomes particularly ambiguous. Apple prefers gritted teeth and closed eyes as a tense, tense attempt to stay positive in the face of adversity, while most other platforms are more overtly grinning. This should be taken into account when you write to someone on another platform! A smiley face in the eye of the beholder. [Gizmodo]
- Now you can share Dropbox files on Facebook Messenger without having to copy and paste the link. You just need to have both apps installed on your phone, and then you can view and share your Dropbox files by pressing the More button in Messenger. [Dropbox]
- Periscope is testing a new feature that lets you paint over live video . Drawings fade after a few seconds, like evaporating water on a hot sidewalk. As Facebook promotes its own live video features, the live streaming wars are just beginning. [The Next Web]
- Remix OS – the program that makes Android more like a desktop OS – is now available for the Nexus 9 and 10 . This might be a good way to use screen real estate until Android gets native support for multi-window and split-screen display this year. [9to5Google]
- Ticketmaster will sell tickets directly to Facebook . Later this month, you can buy tickets directly from the event’s Facebook page. You will never have to leave Facebook again. This is a recurring topic. [BuzzFeed]
- Amazon’s new Kindle has almost arrived . It’s called Oasis and the device is due to be announced sometime this week, but an early leak gave us a glimpse of it. Besides the unique shape with a comfortable wedge on one side, the e-reader will also have an accelerometer, so you can flip it over if you are left-handed. And the page turning buttons! [Gizmodo]
