How to Password Protect Apple Notes
Apple introduced a handy new password protection feature for its Notes app on iOS and OS X in recent updates , but it’s not entirely clear how to actually use it. Here’s how to block these notes.
On iphone
For some reason, Apple was interested in putting all of its additional app functionality into the iOS share icon, a place most of us don’t bother to tap unless we’re actually sharing. This is where you find the blocking feature:
- Select a note in Apple Notes.
- Glue the Share icon (rectangle with arrow in the upper right corner) to the ribbon.
- Click Lock Note.
- Enter your password and choose if you want to use Touch ID.
On OS X
On OS X, locking a note is a little easier:
- Tap the lock icon in the toolbar.
- Click “Block this note” and enter your password.
As long as your notes are synced to iCloud, you can lock them on one device and this will password protect your note everywhere.
