Repair Your Broken Gas Grill by Replacing the Burners
If your gas grill has large cold spots or is not working at all, bad burners are the most likely cause. Here’s how to replace a few new ones and make your old grill new again.
In this video from YouTube channel Consumer Reports, home editor Dan Diclerico shows you how to remove and replace an old gas burner in a few simple steps:
- Disconnect the propane tank and turn off all burners.
- Remove the grill grate and flavor / flavor (A-shaped metal bars that protect your burners from dripping grease). You should now see your burners.
- Pull out the cotter pins holding the old burner in place.
- Lift the adapter tube so it is no longer connected to the old burner.
- Pull the burner out of the metal clip using a flat-blade screwdriver (this should be the last thing connecting the old burner to the grill).
Now just reverse all the previous steps with the new burners and you will be ready to grill again. For about $ 20, you can replace four burners on most standard gas models and not spend a few hundred dollars on a new grill, so check those burners before throwing away this “broken” grill.
