Use Your Gift Cards at These Stores Before They Go Out of Business

Validity of gift cards usually do not expire for five years , so you usually have enough time to use them – that is, if the store does not stop working. At Rather Be Shopping, Kyle James tells us which store gift cards you should probably use sooner rather than later.

When a store files for bankruptcy and goes out of business, it usually means your gift card won’t be valid for much longer . You want to use it before that happens, and here are some of the store’s gift cards you can use as soon as possible:

Sports Authority: … As of this writing, they still accept Sports Authority gift cards both online and in stores. It should also be noted that they DO NOT accept gift cards at stores scheduled to close in the coming weeks. If you missed your chance to redeem your gift card, you can apply here and try to get your money back.

Aeropostale: On Wednesday, May 4, 2016, Aeropostale filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in New York City Court … As of this posting, they still accept gift cards both online and in stores .. If at some point they fall. expensive, they stop accepting gift cards, you can file a claim to try to get your money by clicking here .

Radio Shack: … as of March 31, 2015, they no longer accept gift cards. But alas, not all hope is lost if you still have one of these relics in your wallet. Just go to OldRadioShackGiftCards.com and post a claim to December 2, 2016 There are no guarantees, but worth a try.

There are a few more stores on James’ list, but overall it serves as a good reminder to check your wallet from time to time and see how many half-used (or never-used) cards you have lying around. Check out his full post at the link below.
