Dark Sky App, the Latest Weather App, Finally Arrives on Android

Android: Dark Sky has long been one of our favorite weather apps , but it was only for the iPhone – today it is finally available to Android users who can use its minute-by-minute weather tracking, crowdsourced data, and more.

One of the best features of Dark Sky, per-minute reports on weather and notifications for the exact location (including the ability to see if there is rainfall specifically in your area, instead of relying on broad zip codes or regions) will also appear on Android, so you will be notified not only that the storm is leaving your area, but, in particular, that the rain stops.

The Android version also includes several home screen widgets to make it easier to check current or forecast conditions without opening the app. Basically, if you’ve used an iOS app, you’ll know what to expect, but if not, then a well-designed, simple (but feature-rich) pleasure awaits you.

Dark Sky is free for Android, unlike its iOS counterpart, so you can give it a try and see how it works on your computer. However, its best features – notifications, the latest weather data, widgets, and more – come with a $ 3 / year subscription fee, so keep that price in mind for entry.
