Fee Adds Unlimited Text and Conversation Plans, Small Monthly Data-Only Fee

Charge, a service that provides pay-per-GB data-only plans for phones and tablets , has added cheap unlimited text and conversation plans to its offerings. They also slashed data prices by charging a small monthly fee.

Charge announced new plans for messaging and talking on the blog earlier today in hopes of making their mobile data more attractive to those who aren’t quite ready to give up their phone number and SMS. You can have unlimited text messages on your phone as well as any data you buy for $ 10 a month. If you want unlimited texting and calling, it will cost you $ 20 per month plus the data you buy. The service will operate on Sprint networks and you can transfer your current phone number at no additional cost.

Data is now cheaper per gigabyte, but there is a new monthly fee that makes up for that. Charge used to charge $ 15 per GB, but would drop that to $ 13 per GB if you bought the 3 GB bundle. Now the data will cost you just $ 13 per gigabyte no matter how much you buy, but you will have to pay $ 3 a month to use it. It’s not much, but you have to pay this fee no matter how much data you use. The new plans are available in beta starting today.
