If You Lose Your Driver’s License, Here’s How to Manage Airport Security
If you are traveling and lose your driver’s license, it is difficult to know how you are going to get on your flight. Fortunately, TSA usually allows other forms of identification.
According to the TSA , in some cases they will allow other forms of identification to be used, provided they can still search public databases for you. The Consumerist uses several forms of ID that may work as a last resort (domestic flights only):
Credit cards. If you have a credit card with your photo, this is a good security alternative. Even if you don’t have a photo on your card, Points Guy explains that TSA can still use cards as a way to verify your identity by asking you additional questions or calling your credit card company.
Costco card. Back in 2013, we reported that TSA agents suggested to the California news station that the Costco card would be a viable replacement for a forgotten government-issued ID. Since the Costco card includes photography, it helps to demonstrate that you are who you say you are.
Photos of your IDs – of course, having a paper copy in hand is the best option, but if you take the time to photograph your IDs and store them on your phone, this can be a convenient alternative in case your wallet is stolen or lost during travel time. …
A friend of mine once ran into this problem while visiting me. Her license was stolen the night before, but luckily her husband had a copy of her license at home, so he emailed it to her. TSA allowed this, although they asked her more questions to verify her identity and why she does not have a license.
