Make These Affordable and Stylish DIY Poster Frames
Making your own simple, beautiful poster frames is easy and will showcase your art at no extra cost. You just need a few supplies, a few common tools, and a little time to create these stylish wooden frames for your favorite posters.
The basic process is simple enough and you can customize these frames with the stain or paint of your choice. In addition to a screwdriver, drill and tape measure, you will need:
- Mounting tape
- 4 pieces of 2 “grill
- 4 brass washers, bolts and # 10 machine screws
- 2 small screws
- Pencil
- Thread or twine
If you only want to frame the top of the poster, you only need two pieces of grille and two sets of washers, bolts, and screws. Cut out the trellis or have one made at a hardware store so that it is two inches wider on each side than your poster. Drill an inch from each end, making sure they line up as you will be joining them together. Center the poster on the grates and attach with mounting tape. Attach the two grille pieces with a washer, bolt, and # 10 machine screw on each side of the unit. You will have one for the top of the poster and one for the bottom. Add two small screws to the top of the frame, make sure they are not too long or they may damage the poster on the inside. Tie a string or twine to the screws and hang on the wall.
Obviously this is not suitable for posters that you want to be completely protected by a frame that covers the entire body and face of the poster, but if you are looking for something light and affordable, this is good.
