Flume for Mac Brings Instagram to Your Desktop, Including Downloads

OS X: Browsing Instagram on the web works well enough, but it’s a pretty minimal experience and you can’t post photos through a browser. You can now do this with the recently updated Instagram Flume 2.0 desktop client.

Flume offers a sleek, tasteful interface that makes it easy to view your desktop feed, interact with friends’ photos, follow your notifications, send direct messages and, yes, even upload your own photos.

However, there is a possible catch: Instagram announced last year that it would no longer allow third-party apps to access the Instagram feed. The developers had a deadline of June 1, 2016 to make the changes, and it seems that Flume is safe for now – it works! – but it’s unclear if Flume will run indefinitely. It’s free, so it doesn’t hurt to try it.
