Rest of the Day: Google Maps for Android Has a Beta Channel
If you’re the kind of person who likes to live on the edge – say, on the edge of a map – there is now an easy way to access early features that are still in development for Google Maps for Android.
- Google Maps now has a beta channel in the Play Store. There’s nothing clearly new in the beta at this point, but if you’re the type of person who wants to try out the latest features before they’re prime time ready, you can sign up to test the beta here. [Android Police]
- Facebook is closing the Notify app. If you’re not sure what it is, here’s a notice: you’re not alone! Notify is an app launched just under a year ago that allows you to subscribe to push notifications from publishers with a focus on breaking news and timely information. This was probably just an experiment, given that Facebook never really pressed on it. [The Verge]
- Apple has re-released the recent iOS 9.3.2 update specifically for the 9.7-inch iPad Pro. The update reportedly blocked this particular tablet, so Apple briefly pulled back the update until a fix was fixed. And now it works. [9to5Mac]
- 1Password launched 1Password for Teams. As the name suggests, this is a way to manage passwords for a whole team of people. An administrator can control who has access to what, and can easily grant access to or revoke password vaults. Pricing starts at $ 4.99 per month for the standard plan, or $ 14.99 per month for the professional plan with additional options. [1Password]
- Windows Insiders using the latest preview version of Windows 10 AND Windows 10 Mobile can now sync notifications from Windows phones to their desktop. If you have all the necessary components and software for this, then you are definitely a Windows fan, my friend. [Windows Blog]
