Recalbox Is a Simplified Gaming Emulator Operating System for the Raspberry Pi
When it comes to turning your Raspberry Pi into a retro gaming console, we have long been recommending RetroPie because it is relatively easy to set up, yet packed with features. If you’re looking for something even easier to use, Recalbox is worth a look.
Recalbox is an open source operating system built on the same core foundation as RetroPie, but with a simplified interface and setup process. At first glance, general use is a bit easier than RetroPie, with more obvious four-player controller support and a simpler update system that keeps your emulators up to date. The media center software, Kodi, is also packaged right from the start and doesn’t require any additional setup. We’ll have to dig deeper to see how it compares to RetroPie overall, but it’s worth taking a look if you’ve gotten disappointed with RetroPie for some reason.
