Learn to Run a Mile Fast With This Workout Plan
If you’re tired of running long stretches of road, here’s your chance to spice up your running on the trail. Nike’s latest training plan introduces you to sprint training with the goal of running the fastest mile in history.
The plan assumes that you have run at least a little, but you do not need to know anything about training on the track. Rather than just calling something like “4×300” and making you scratch your head, each workout is illustrated with small charts showing exactly how many circles you are going to do and when.
Summer is a great time to try this workout, as the lane closest to you is probably at school, otherwise you will have to work during school hours. (No track? Think two minutes or two city blocks instead of every 400-meter circle.) So try the mile! To put your workouts into practice, try one of the ever-growing one mile races, or simply enjoy your newfound speed on your own terms.
