Set Mac Apps to Open Automatically on Different Desktops to Reduce Clutter
Virtual desktops have been a staple of OS X for a while, and they make it easy to get rid of the clutter of windows by leaving the entire desktop to the application for itself. How-To Geek reminds us that you can set the default desktop for each application, which greatly simplifies the process of using them.
Just right-click any application in the Dock and hover your mouse over Options. Here you can assign the application to any desktop you want. If you don’t see any additional desktops, you may have to open Mission Control and create a new desktop first. If you use multiple desktops a lot, this is an old trick, but if you don’t, it’s easy to miss.
