Don’t Reheat Leftover Steak and Instead Make This Cool Yummy Salad
While I’m sure none of you have ever tasted this thing called steak leftovers, I’ve heard it happens to some people, and these people are very concerned about how they should reheat it. Spoiler alert: don’t; better to make a salad.
Let’s face it, a reheated steak is usually not that good anyway. According to J. Kenji Lopez-Alt, this is because the cells of the steak are like “little balls of water, the cooking of which weakens their walls so much that they are ready to explode on impact,” and “reheating the steak will almost inevitably lead to dry disappointing results. “
Fortunately, a cold, already cooked steak is the perfect candidate for a Lopez Alt-style salad that requires nothing more than cucumber, ponzu sauce, mustard, olive oil, and (of course) a cold steak. Simply cut the steak and cucumbers into thin slices, whisk the remaining ingredients to make a dressing, and pour over the dish. Sprinkle with green onions and serve immediately.
