Make Super-Smooth Sweet Treats in Ice Cream
Most sugary cocktails are made with some booze, mixers, and ice in a blender. This is a simple process, but it is not reliable and can result in an overly icy crunchy beverage. To prevent shards of frozen water from boosting your mood, prepare slush in an ice cream machine.
I tried this myself and I like this method for many reasons. Not only does it allow you to ditch ice altogether, preventing dilution of the drink and making the preparation more uniform, but it also gives your ice cream maker another use, once again justifying its noble existence. Food 52 has a great recipe for making Pina Colada this way , but it can be applied to just about any cocktail (like a Negroni! ). Just remember to chill everything beforehand so it’s easy to freeze.
