This Homemade Bluetooth Boombox Is Made From an Old Ammo Box
Ammo containers aren’t very common, but you can probably find one at your local surplus or thrift store if you’re lucky – and Instructables user r570sv turned it into a massive bluetooth speaker with a little DIY spirit and the right fittings. Best of all, this is a simple electronics project that you can follow too.
A full list of parts and tools is in Instructable (link below), including where you can buy a bunch of components (although admittedly the r570sv had a lot of smaller electronics on hand or was already on hand). You will also need the right tools, but nothing more complicated than a jigsaw and a cordless drill hole saw attachment. Once you’ve got everything – your speakers, tools, and of course, the bluetooth module for the whole case, you need to cut holes on the side of the ammo can, install the amplifier and speakers, and wire it all together. …
Of course, this is an oversimplification – the r570sv ran into several issues along the way (and they are all documented so you can learn from and avoid them) such as choosing the right amp – or maybe a different one than it used to be – so you you can easily install it inside the case. Install and connect all the components, place the power switch and power connector outside for easy access and you are good to go. For a complete step-by-step guide, visit the step-by-step guide below and be sure to read the comments as some people suggest some alternative components that can improve the sound in the finished product and make assembly easier.
